Continuity & Disaster Recovery
Building
Procedural Decisioning Plans for the Unexpected
Today's
volatile international environment presents many new risks
for the corporate world. It is of paramount importance that
an organisation develops and implements adequate business
continuity plans in the event of a disaster. These plans aim
at assuring the availability of mission-critical assets such
as people, information, processes, technology and facilities
to counter the potential crippling effects of disasters and
limit downtime in business operations. Business continuity
planning includes the following:
- identify
critical business functions in their organisations
- identify
possible emergencies and the responses required
- analyse
the existing emergency response procedures and develop new
ones where needed
- integrate
real-time decisioning supports related to command &
control requirements with emergency response procedures
- define
adequate business continuity strategies
- develop
business continuity plans
- develop
crisis communications plans
- develop
and implement a full Business Continuity program, including
maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
- embed
procedural audit trails into the BCP, to ensure full compliance
with the requirements of regulatory authorities
